Ingredients

  • 1 box Mrs. T’s Classic Onion Pierogies
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 2-3 cups mushrooms, sliced
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon fresh thyme leaves
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • ½ cup water
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ cup Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper (optional)
  • 3 tablespoons crispy onions (optional)
  • ¼ cup Parmesan cheese (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon fresh thyme (optional)
  • Chili flakes, to taste

Directions

  1. Preheat a large skillet over medium-high heat; make sure the skillet has a lid.
  2. Add the butter and mushrooms, season with salt and thyme; sauté until the mushrooms are soft, about 5 minutes.
  3. Add garlic and sauté for a minute longer until fragrant.
  4. Add the pierogies to the skillet, followed by the heavy cream and water.
  5. Season with salt and Parmesan cheese.
  6. Cover the skillet and let pierogies cook for 10 to 15 minutes over medium low heat until the pierogies are tender.
  7. Garnish with black pepper, crispy onions, Parmesan cheese, thyme and chili flakes as desired.
